What size rug for a king bed?

How this calculator works
It follows standard interior-design rules. Under a bed, the rug starts about a third of the way down the bed, so nightstands stay on bare floor, and should show 18–30 inches of rug on each side. In a living room, the rug should run past each end of the sofa. Under a dining table, it needs at least 24 inches on every side so chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. Every result is also checked against your room, leaving at least 12 inches of floor between the rug and each wall.
