  • • Hang it so the bottom edge sits 5–10″ above the countertop, and centre it on the vanity (or on each sink).
  • • The centre of a 30″ tall mirror lands about 55″ from the floor. Eye level is roughly 57–60″, so raise it if the people using it are tall.
  • • A mirror as wide as the vanity looks built-in. A noticeably narrower one looks like it's floating.

Frequently asked questions

What size mirror for a 36 inch vanity?

A mirror 32–36 inches wide, usually a 32 or 36 inch mirror about 30 inches tall.

How high should a bathroom mirror be hung?

With the bottom edge 5–10 inches above the countertop, and the middle of the mirror around eye level, roughly 57–60 inches from the floor.

Can the mirror be wider than the vanity?

It can, but it tends to look top-heavy and gets in the way of wall lights and towel bars. Equal or slightly narrower looks best.
