What size chandelier for a 10x10 room?

Add the room's length and width in feet: 10 + 10 = 20, so choose a chandelier about 20″ (51 cm) across. Hang it so the bottom is at least 7 ft off the floor.

Method: Designer rules: room length + width in feet = diameter in inches; ½–⅔ of a dining table's width; hung 30–36″ above a table.

How it works

For an open room, add the length and width in feet and use that number as the diameter in inches. Over a dining table, use about half to two thirds of the table width, and keep it at least 12″ narrower than the table. Fixture height is about 2.5–3″ per foot of ceiling.
