What size art above a twin bed?

A twin bed is about 38″ wide, so the art above it should be 22–29″ wide in total (about 25″ is ideal). A set of three would be 6″ each.

Method: Gallery rule of thumb: art about 57–75% of the furniture's width, hung 4–8″ above it.

  • • Hang the bottom edge 4–8″ above the headboard, so the art and bed read as one group. With no headboard, go 6–10″ above the pillows.
  • • Centre the art on the bed, not the wall, if they don't line up.
  • • For a set of three, each piece is about 6″ wide with 2–3″ between them.

How to choose

Art looks balanced when it spans about 57–75% of the furniture below it. Hang it 4–8″ above the headboard so the two read as one group. For a gallery wall or a set, measure the whole group, not each piece.
